Fire up the grill, gather up your friends and family and light off some fireworks — it's time for the Fourth of July!

As revelers join together to celebrate Independence Day, many may be dreaming of the tasty dishes they will load onto their plate up as they blast their songs of the summer playlist and wait to watch dazzling fireworks light up the night sky. Taste of Home compiled a list of the "most popular" Fourth of July foods in every state, based on research from time2play that analyzed Google search data and volume trends for more than 100 different types of food in the lead up to the patriotic holiday.

While hot dogs and hamburgers may be the obvious option to chow down on throughout the day, the overwhelming favorite was potato salad, with a total of 10 states flocking to the delicious side more than any other. Now whether you prefer your potato salad mayo-heavy, tangy with the bite of vinegar or light with extra herbs, that's between you and whoever is in the kitchen.

Rounding out the top five most popular foods are baked beans, deviled eggs, macaroni salad and smoked brisket.
