The West Palm Beach City Commission has voted to cancel a plan for a downtown 84-slip marina.
The vote was unanimous at Monday night's meeting, in front of a number of residents who have spoken out against the project.
The West Palm Beach Downtown Neighborhood Association had circulated a petition online that urged the commission to reconsider the proposal.
Opponents of the deal with developer City Harbor say large yachts would block their views and access to the water.
Mayor Keith James says he is still committed to what he calls a "full-blown waterfront envisioning process."
