Ocala National Forest, Florida - A man suffered puncture wounds and cuts on Monday afternoon after being attacked by an alligator while snorkeling at Alexander Springs.
The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m., leading National Forests in Florida to temporarily close the Alexander Springs swim area as a safety precaution.
The nearly 8-foot-long alligator, presumed to be involved in the attack, was successfully removed.
The victim says that he was snorkeling within the designated swim area when the large gator bit him.
Adventure Ocala, the concessioner authorized by the United States Forest Service to operate Alexander Springs, provided immediate aid to the victim.
According to officials, after the attack, the victim sought medical treatment on his own accord.
No further details about the victim's identity have been disclosed.
For the safety of the public, all guests were cleared from the swim area and it was promptly closed.
It is worth noting that earlier this month, Alexander Springs was briefly closed for the removal of a different alligator.
