Jupiter, FL offers some of the most beautiful beaches complete with the inlet and numerous other waterfront areas. Other than bad weather or dangerous rip currents, we don't normally see many swimming bans in this area which makes it so surprising that there has been a "no swimming" warning issued for parts of Jupiter.
Dubois Park Lagoon issued the "no swim" warning yesterday after health officials found bacteria levels to be poor in this area. The Palm Beach County department of health said the bacteria colonies were at 100 per milliliter which is extremely high compared to what it should be. Chances are this occurred because of the heavy rainfall South Florida has been experiencing.
High Bacteria Levels can also be caused by wildlife, extreme recreational use, or high tide. Fans of the park are disappointed that this happened right at the start of Summer, but the water should be rechecked soon and hopefully the ban will be lifted.
