Bourbon Whiskey BBQ Sliders

Bourbon Whiskey BBQ Sliders

Makes 12 sliders

Here is what you need:

2    pounds ground meat, chicken or beef
4    TBS butter

1 onion, diced
1 cup BBQ sauce (pick your favorite)
 ½ cup whiskey
Pickled jalapeno slices, around 1/3 cup or less if you like
Salt and pepper
12 Brioche slider buns, split

Here is what you need to do:

Shape the meat into 12 small patties, or you can be like me a buy them preformed at Doris Italian Market. Salt and pepper the patties on both sides.

In a cast iron skillet, melt the butter over medium –high heat. Cook the patties about 2 minutes a side, you want them underdone. Remove patties from the pan and set them aside. Remove some of the grease from pan if necessary, but not all of it leave at least a couple TBS. Add the onions to the pan and season with just a little salt and pepper. Cook for about 3 to 4 minutes.

Slide the skillet off the heat and add in the whiskey then slide it back on the burner. Let the whiskey reduce by half then add in the jalapenos and BBQ sauce. Turn the heat down, add the patties back into the pan and let simmer.

Optional, but I do it.Lightly toast the cut sides of your bun.I just do it on a grill pan.

Put the patties on bottom half of buns and top with sauce, jalapenos and then the top half of buns.

Serve with pickles and slaw.
