Bloody Mary Shrimp

Bloody Mary Shrimp

Here is what you need:

1 pound cocktail shrimp, peeled and deveined*

1 to 1 ½ cups thinly sliced celery

1 bunch scallions thinly chopped (white and light green parts only)

½ cup ketchup

¼ cup fresh lemon juice

¼ cup vodka

1 tsp tabasco sauce

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

2 TBS prepared horseradish sauce, not drained

salt and pepper to taste

For this recipe I buy precooked frozen baby (cocktail) shrimp. I never buy precooked frozen shrimp. I don’t think it tastes as good as raw frozen shrimp, however Doris Italian Market sells precook frozen baby shrimp that is delicious! I’m not saying that just because they are our sponsor.

Also if you have regular size shrimp, that works too, just cut them into thirds.

Here is what you need to do:

Cook shrimp according to package directions, or if you are like me let the frozen cooked shrimp thaw. Keep the shrimp chilled.

In a glass bowl mix together the ketchup, lemon juice, vodka, Tabasco, horseradish and Worcestershire. Taste and season with salt and pepper to your liking.

Combine the shrimp with the celery and scallions. Right before serving mix together the shrimp with the ketchup/horseradish sauce. Spoon into serving spoons and enjoy!
