Grilled Cheese With Ham And Pineapple

Serves 2

There are many ways to make a grilled cheese. Here are a couple of options. I really like grilled American cheese with tomato but I decided to try some other types of fruit and cheese.

Here is what you need:

4 slices of bread

4 slices of Swiss cheese

thinly sliced ham (about 4 ounces)

4 thin slices of fresh pineapple (you can grill it before if you want)

2 TBS room temperature butter

6 to 8 fresh basil leaves

Here is what you need to do:

Place a slice of cheese on all 4 pieces of bread. On two slices layer the ham then 2 slices of pineapple on top of the ham then the basil on top of the pineapple. Take the slices of bread with just the cheese on it and put it on top. Butter the top of the bread.

Heat a skillet to about medium heat and put the sandwiches, butter side down in it. Butter the other side of the sandwich and cook until nice and golden, 2-3 minutes. Flip the sandwich and cook the other side. Slide it on a cutting board and slice in half. Let’s Eat

Variation: Swap Gruyere cheese and thinly sliced pear for the Swiss and pineapple. Cheddar cheese and sliced apple would be good too!
