Sally's Recipe Of The Week: Dry Rub Rib-Eye Steak

Dry Rub Rib-Eye Steak

Serves 4

This is such an easy recipe and if you put the rub on the steaks the day before or even two days before it’s even better. You can also try this rub on other cuts of steak.

Here is what you need:

4 bone in rib eye steaks (Around 10 ounces each)

2 TBS Kosher salt (not table salt) or more to taste

2 TBS brown sugar

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp finely crushed red pepper (optional)

2 tsp smoked paprika

Olive oil

Here is what you need to do.

Pat dry the meat with a paper towel. In a bowl combine the salt, sugar, garlic powder, red pepper and paprika. Rub both sides of the steaks with the spice mixture then individually wrap each steak in plastic wrap. You should do this at least one day before you are going to eat them. Place them in the fridge. When you are going to cook them, remove them from fridge 30 minutes before.

Preheat oven to 450

Heat an oven safe pan, I recommend cast iron skillet, on medium high then add a couple of TBS of oil.

Remove the room temperature steaks from plastic wrap and place in the hot pan.

Sear steak on both sides until nicely browned, about 2 to 3 minutes each side.Slide the steaks into the oven to finish cooking, about 6 to 8 minutes for medium rare. When the steak is cooked to your liking remove from pan and let the steak rest, covered with foil, on a cutting board for 10 minutes.

Cut the steak off the bone and slice it against the grain and serve. Let’s Eat!!
