Sally's Recipe Of The Week: Indian Inspired Chili

Indian Inspired Chili

Serves 4

The Big Game is Sunday and chili is a popular dish for football games. Give you'rs a twist with Indian inspired flavors. (Thank you Honda Classic for the cutting board!)

Here is what you will need:

1 pound ground beef

3 TBS canola oil

1 onion

4 cloves garlic

2 tsp coriander

2 TBS fresh ginger, ground

1 tsp paprika

1/2 tsp cayenne pepper

1/2 tsp Garam Masala

1/2 tsp cumin

2 medium tomatoes

2 tsp apple cider vinegar

1 cup frozen peas

1 cup beef broth or stock

1/4 cup fresh chopped cilantro, plus more for garnish

salt and pepper

Prep your ingredients. Chop the onion, cilantro and tomatoes. Mince the garlic and ginger.

Warm the oil in a large pot and in the onions and cook until they are tender. Add in the garlic and ginger and stir for a minute. Add in the beef, season with salt and pepper, breaking it up as it cooks.

Add in your spices, coriander, cayenne (optional), Garam Masala, cumin and paprika.

When the meat is no longer pink add in 1 cup of beef broth or stock and tomatoes. sprinkle with a little salt and pepper. Let it come to a bubble then turn down the heat a bit. Taste it and season as needed.

Add in the peas and give it a good stir, cover and let simmer for at least 10 minutes. Add in the vinegar and cilantro and again give it a good stir.

Serve alone, on top of rice or with some bread. Garnish with some fresh cilantro. Let's Eat!!
