Dog Accidentally Runs Half-Marathon After Being Let Out To Pee

Hopefully those that actually registered to run in this half marathon aren't too upset after a dog joined in and placed 7th! Ludivine is a 2 1/2 year old Bloodhound who accidentally ended up running in this race. She was let out to use the bathroom and found herself at the starting line of the Elkmont Trackless Train Half Marathon in Alabama.

Surprising both her owners and fellow runners alike, the bloodhound ran the full 13.1 miles! Jim Clemens, who was also in the race, shared " “Every time I thought she had dropped off to go back home, I would hear her coming back up to me and she would race past me up to the two leaders. She would run off to romp through the streams and into yards to sniff around for a while.”

Her owner, April Hamlin, also shared that she's rather a lazy dog so the fact that she ran the whole thing was quite amazing. April was also thrilled to hear that her pup didn't get in the way of other runners and was very friendly.

“All I did was open the door, and she ran the race on her own accord. My first reaction was that I was embarrassed and worried that she had possibly gotten in the way of the other runners. She’s laid back and friendly, so I can’t believe she ran the whole half marathon because she’s actually really lazy." -April Hamlin (Ludivine's Owner)

Well congratulations to Ludivine on running a great race and having the time of her life! Check out all these super cute pictures of her running below!
