Florida Residents Rescued From Hurricane Michael Storm Surge

Friends and neighbors all teamed up after Hurricane Michael passed yesterday to rescue those trapped in flood waters and in homes. Just because the hurricane had past did not mean residents were safe from the storm surge which reached 12 feet in some areas.

Thankfully, neighbors with big trucks and boats braved the elements and became local heroes.

One woman whose son was trapped in his home spoke with reporters about the wonderful people who got him out.

"Where would these people be without big trucks and boats?" - asked the reporter for CBS Evening News. Her response - "Where is anyone without friends?".

It seems like those in the Panhandle will be making a lot of new friends as clean up efforts are just beginning.
