I don't need to go on about the talents of "Queen of Soul" Aretha Franklin, but I wanted to share my favorite memory of her.
Aretha had a part in the classic 1980 film "The Blues Brothers" starring John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd. In the scene, she plays the wife of one of the band members that Jake and Elwood Blues are trying to round up to raise money for the convent where they grew up.
Aretha and Murphy both work at a restaurant and Jake and Elwood come by to tell him they are getting the band back together. "Mrs. Murphy" doesn't like that idea one bit and tells her husband that he'd better "Think" about it. Actually, sings it.
Even on this day when we lost this legend, this scene makes me smile.
