Former Yankees great Derek Jeter has been officially introduced as the new CEO and minority owner of the Miami Marlins. He appeared alongside principal owner Bruce Sherman, an investor and Florida resident at a Tuesday news conference.
Jeter talked about the need for patience as the new ownership team handles the organization's rebuilding.
The sale closed Monday, with Jeter, Sherman and former team owner Jeffrey Loria signing the papers.
The $1.2 billion deal was approved last week by Major League Baseball owners.
