Florida Keys To Reopen To Visitors

The Keys will reopen to visitors this Sunday, three weeks after being hit by Hurricane Irma.

Officials advise potential visitors to call ahead to ensure that hotels and other businesses are open.  Some hotels are still housing displaced residents under a FEMA program and recovery efforts are ongoing, especially in the lower Keys.

Monroe County Mayor George Neugent says they need to start asking visitors to return to the Keys because tourism is their "top economic engine" and many of their residents livelihoods depend on it.
