What Was Behind A Treasure Coast Fish Kill?

Massive Algae Blooms Continue To Plague Florida's Atlantic Coast

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says a large fish kill on the Treasure Coast is likely the result of low oxygen levels in the water, which can come from a good deal of storm runoff like what was left by Irma.

Residents near the C-24 Canal in Port St. Lucie have been complaining about the smell in the area.

The South Florida Water Management District sent crews to the canal to clear out the dead fish on Wednesday.

Water managers notified FWC.
