Not everyone is pulling out of events at President Trump's Palm Beach estate.
Though there have been around 20 organizations moving from Maralago or canceling outright, some have stayed put. Then, there's an event titled "The Truth About Israel," which actually decided to move from another venue to Maralago.
Organizer Steven Alembik, owner of a Boca Raton-based data firm, organized the event to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the massacre at the 1972 Munich Olympics, where eleven Israeli athletes were killed by Palestinians. The event will also honor the work of former Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Danny Ayalon and was originally scheduled for the Boca Raton Resort.
"This is still all about Israel. This is about supporting Israel, the Israeli people and Danny Ayalon's mission. Now, having said that, our President is a strong supporter of Israel."
Alembik says he's gotten a little bit of a negative response.
"I got two phone calls and nobody seems to remember their name when I say 'who's this?' One woman said 'are you moving from the Boca Resort to Maralago?' I said 'yes I am.' She said, 'I can't support you.' and I said 'dear, we will miss you terribly.' I mean, what am I supposed to say? I'm polite to them."
But, Steven says he's received more attention from people who support the President.
"I'm getting people calling me, emailing me...a lot of them are from some of the groups that pulled out. They're not happy with their leadership doing this. And part of the reason again (is) they know the President of the United States, Donald Trump, has got Israel's back. He's going to figure out some way to fix the mess with Iran."
He says others, including folks with some Israeli charities that pulled out of the venue, are calling to support his plans.
"The people of Israel are extremely gratified that he is President because they know that he has their back. There isn't so much as a question about it."
Congressman Brian Mast will speak at the event, along with Olympic Gold Medalist Mark Spitz and others.
The event is being held on the same date as another Israeli charity decided to pull out from Trump's Palm Beach estate.
