Update: WPB Mayor Says Confederate Monument Will Be Removed From Cemetery

West Palm Beach Mayor Jeri Muoio says a Confederate monument that was vandalized will be removed from a cemetery where it has sat since 1941.

Graffiti was spray-painted all over the structure over the weekend and cleaned up Monday.  Red paint spelled out the words "Antifa," an abbreviation of the "Anti-Fascist" movement, along with "Nazi and KKK," along with arrows pointing toward a Confederate flag which is on the monument.

The mayor says she's been reaching out to the United Daughters of the Confederacy, which owns the monument, and she hasn't heard back.

Woodlawn Cemetery is owned by the city and Muoio plans to place the structure in storage until the organization decides what to do with it.

She has recently been working to get the organization to remove the monument due to complaints.
