School Board Close To Banning Employees From Interfering

School district employees would no longer be allowed to discourage students or teachers from speaking at school board meetings under a plan that gained preliminary approval on Wednesday.

The move comes about after reports about the attempts of some administrators to talk a group of students and parents from speaking at a meeting in January regarding an incident at a high school.

If the rule gets final approval, it would prohibit school district employees from contacting anyone who has signed up to speak at a school board meeting for the purpose of dissuading, interfering or discouraging the speaker from addressing the board.
