Law enforcement leaders in Florida are happy to hear that President Trump has ordered the U.S. to designate drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations.
Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek says there have already been two fatal drug overdoses in his community this year.
"It is high time that we do something to push back on individuals that are killing American citizens."
In St. Lucie County, Sheriff Richard Del Toro tells CBS 12 News he looks forward to getting funding from the federal government so his deputies can help stem the flow of illegal drugs that come across at the southern border.
"It's going to be working with them to support their initiatives, giving them some extra manpower that's gonna help them and hopefully working together to solve this problem."
President Trump has declared a state of emergency at the border.
