How To Get Lovebugs Off Of Your Car

Lovebugs

If you've driven up the highway recently, you may have got out to find the front of your car completely caked on with bugs. Yup, that's right - it's lovebug mating season here in Florida once again and they've picked your car for their date night meetup!

Not only do lovebugs look gross on cars, but if left on they can do some serious damage to your paint job! They can also clog radiators and lead to other issues if not cleaned off promptly.

The best way to avoid lovebugs in the first place is to avoid driving during peak hours (or stay off the highways altogether). Lovebugs have a habit of "making their love known" between 10 am and 6 pm or anytime the temperature is above 84 degrees.

However, if you can't avoid them, then the next best option is to keep a healthy coat of wax on your car. This will act as a barrier between the lovebug remains and your paint job. Lastly, make sure you clean off the bugs ASAP. Here's some cheap and easy ways for removing lovebug guts:

  • Baby Oil
  • Johnson's Baby Shampoo
  • Degreaser
  • Cooking Spray
  • Baking Soda
  • Lamp Oil
  • Dish Soap
  • Dryer Sheets
  • Mr. Clean Magic Eraser
  • WD-40
  • Avon Skin-So-Soft
