Facebook And Instagram Down Worldwide

Facebook

UPDATE March 14 9:08 AM:

Facebook is still struggling going over 14 hours of issues after their global outage occurred yesterday morning. The outage impacted Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp and is said to be the biggest interruption ever suffered by the social network.

Instagram and WhatsApp appear to be back to full working power and Facebook is not far behind with only a few users still experiencing issues.

Once again, the outage was NOT due to any kind of cyber attack.

UPDATE 4:45 PM:

Facebook has tweeted out saying they are working to resolve the issue asap. They also said that this outage was NOT due to any kind of cyber attack.

ORIGINAL:

If you're experiencing issues with Facebook or Instagram on Wednesday afternoon, you are not alone.

Facebook went down early afternoon and has bizarre messages popping up to users. Facebook messenger is also not working.

Instagram is failing to publish all videos and photos.

As with any worldwide crash, users couldn't stay quiet and have taken to Twitter using the hashtags #FacebookDown #InstagramDown.

Right now, it is not immediately clear what is causing the issue. Some are saying this is scheduled maintenance, but it seems surprising that both would go down like this.

Facebook spokesperson gave a statement to USA Today saying,

"We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing the Facebook family of apps. We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible."
