The City of Miami Beach hosting a human trafficking awareness event at Pride Park tomorrow night. Commissioner Alex Fernandez says the abusers' prey on the most vulnerable in our population. The event is part of the Red Sand Project, a symbolic gesture started by a local activist in 2014, who poured red sand in sidewalk cracks representing people who fall through the cracks. Human trafficking is a 150-billion-dollar global industry involving sexual exploitation and forced labor.
