The Palm Beach County School Board is expected on Wednesday evening to finalize a nearly $55 million settlement with local charter schools.
It's the result of a lawsuit filed against the school district over a 2018 voter referendum which increased taxes for public schools but gave no money to charters.
The courts ruled against the school district and the district will send $54.9 million to charter schools and the money will be disbursed based on how many students were enrolled at each school, along with interest.
A similar lawsuit led to Broward County schools sending 80 million dollars to its charter schools.
