Miami-Dade Countywide Curfew Starts Tonight at 10 p.m.

Curfew announced for Miami-Dade

(Miami, FL) -- Miami-Dade County is taking further steps to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

Mayor Carlos Gimenez announced yesterday a curfew will go into effect tonight at 10:00, and it will last until 6:00 a.m. every day until further notice.

"I agree with my medical advisers that young people and their parents are not taking seriously the New Normal rules," Gimenez said in a statement on Thursday. The curfew, "is meant to stop people from venturing out and hanging out with friends in groups, which has been shown to be spreading the virus rapidly."

He also announced he's rolling back the reopening of entertainment facilities, including movie theaters. In addition, a new policy requires masks to be worn everywhere in public, including outdoors, and beaches are closed for the holiday weekend.
