700 Ton Sandi Tree Is Being Scooped Up

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — See you next year, Sandi. Crews brought out the heavy equipment to take down the Sandi Holiday Tree in downtown West Palm Beach on Thursday. The tree, made from 700 tons of sand, had been the centerpiece of the Clematis By Night holiday attraction since last month. Crews needed a few weeks to build the Sandi Tree. It will take crews only 3 or 4 days to remove all the sand.

A spokesperson for the city says the sand will be stored in a warehouse and re-purposed for next year's tree.

It's been quite a season for Sandi. Last year, vandals used it as a playground in the middle of the night. They still haven't been caught.
