So a Russian startup company has BIG plans. And by BIG we mean really big. They want to launch giant billboard-like ads into space at an altitude of about 300 miles. They have already tested a prototype. Here in the U.S., space-based advertising has been outlawed since 1993, but apparently there is no ban in Russia.
Personally, I think this is a terrible idea. We already have enough light pollution. So much so, that we can barely make out more then a few stars. Now this? Give me a break. Hats off to communities like Harmony, FL where they have strict laws limiting the amount of light. All streetlights are "downcasting", etc. We need more of that!
