LISTEN: Clematis Streetscape - Your Input Is Needed

Residents and business owners in the city of West Palm Beach have the opportunity to help shape the future of one of its most popular streets.

City Transportation Engineer Erik Ferguson is overseeing the Clematis Streetscape project and tells me the goal.

"To take a great street and make it one of the world's best."

The city will be looking to hear from you at a planning session during Saturday's GreenMarket from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and an interactive workshop will be held on Monday evening at City Hall.

Ferguson says the project is about improving Clematis and other nearby roadways for the benefit of the locals, but also for attracting new business to the city.

"We're seeing that there's a movement towards quality of life.  Having great public space is what makes a city attractive for businesses to want to relocate.  It's keeping us competitive."

Some of the enhancements may include more shade, clearly marked pedestrian crossings and curbless roads.

City leaders plan to implement some of the suggestions between May and October of this year.

Here are details on the two events:

·   Clematis Streetscape: Planning at the Market | Saturday, January 20, 2018 - West Palm Beach GreenMarket - 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

·       Clematis Streetscape: Interactive Workshop | Monday, January 22, 2018 - Public Meeting at City Hall - 5:30 - 8 p.m.
