Second Marijuana Dispensary To Open In Lake Worth

Los Angeles City Council Votes To Ban Medical Marijuana Dispensaries

A second medical marijuana dispensary is set to open next week in Lake Worth.

The Curaleaf dispensary will open its doors on Monday, right across the street from a school on North Dixie Highway.  The principal of the Academy for Positive Learning, a charter school, has fought the dispensary's opening, because it's less than 200 feet away from her school.

There is a state law that mandates dispensaries remain at least 500 feet away from schools, but that wasn't enacted until after the city approved the location of Curaleaf.

The principal's concerns are that because Curaleaf will be an all-cash business, it may attract criminal activity.

Another medical marijuana dispensary opened just down the road from this one a couple of months ago, across from City Hall.
