Police: Treasure Coast Student Posts Snapchat Threat

Port St. Lucie Police are investigating after they say a 14-year old student at Treasure Coast High School posted the picture of what appeared to be a real handgun on Snapchat, with a warning that dared "anyone to come to school Tuesday."

Police were informed of the threat on Monday night and tracked down the source of the post to a home where they found the teenager and his parents.  Police confiscated the BB gun that is apparently pictured in the post and the student told officers he meant it all as a joke.

St. Lucie County Public Schools released a statement that they contacted parents and students via robo-calls prior to the morning bell to inform them that they take situations like this very seriously.

Criminal charges could be filed against the student.
