South Florida Leads The Way In Increase Of Self-Employed

The number of people who work for themselves in our area is growing faster than anywhere else in the country.

According to a new report from George Mason University, between 1997 and 2015, the self employed segment of the Miami Metro, which includes West Palm Beach, rose 142 percent.

That's more than double the national average.

There's one caveat: The average profit for a self-employed individual in South Florida is $44,000 per year, which lags behind the national average by about $4,000.
