Boynton's Police Chief Leaving For Virginia After 20 Years With The Force

The Chief of Police in Boynton Beach is leaving his job for the same title in Chesterfield County, Virginia.

Jeffrey Katz has been with the Boynton Beach Police Department for more than 20 years, and he's been chief since 2013.

Katz says he's leaving the Boynton Beach police force next month.  He begins work in Virginia on January 2nd.

Chief Katz is credited with turning around a police department with a number of issues including officers accused of falsifying police reports, watching porn on duty and trafficking drugs.

He's been a regular participant in WJNO's Friday feature, "Protecting the Palm Beaches," and we look forward to checking in with Katz one final time before he leaves our area.
