Another Florida Tourism Record Despite Hurricane Irma

Florida welcomed a record number of tourists during the first 3 quarters of 2017, despite the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma.

Governor Rick Scott is announcing from Miami on Monday that 88.2 million visitors came to the state from January through September.  That's a 3.3% increase from the same time frame in 2016.

Scott says Visit Florida, the state's tourism marketing agency, aggressively targeted tourists in the wake of Irma, to ensure people knew Florida was still open for business.

77.6 million tourists were domestic, while nearly 8 million were from overseas and 2.7 million were from Canada.
