Bridge Collapse Under Investigation In North Palm Beach

Bridge Collapse

The Florida Department of Transportation is investigating a partial bridge collapse in North Palm Beach Wednesday.  A large chunk of a bridge that runs along U.S. One, just north of Northlake Boulevard, fell into the water, but it's not known why.

The bridge crosses the Earman River and records show it was last inspected just over two years ago and is considered "functionally obsolete."

The southbound lanes of U.S. One had to be shut down while inspectors checked out the damage.  The northbound lanes were not affected.
