BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. —For months, wildfires all over Australia have destroyed homes and wildlife. Videos and images from overseas are heartbreaking to all who see them. As a result, people abroad are doing what they can to help. CBS News reports nearly a billion animals have perished, after 20 million acres have burned killing 25 people. Ryan Armstrong owns a side business selling t-shirts online; it's called Bananaman Clothing; he's now using it to make a difference. "What we're doing with these shirts is gonna be a drop in the bucket, I know that," Armstrong said. "But it's something."
Over the weekend, he created a shirt and hoodie design to raise money and awareness for the crews battling the wildfires in Australia. The logo features a Koala surrounded by loving words that read "Much Love Australia." Three hours after putting the design online, Armstrong says he raised more than $1,000.
"The orders are coming in from all over the United States," he said. "It's amazing what social media can do for causes like this."
Even if it isn't much, Armstrong believes any little bit can help.
"To see the devastation to that land, I can't imagine that," he said. "I know we all want to do more, but do what you can, and that's where we're at."
