Campus police at Florida Atlantic University are investigating an armed robbery that took place Wednesday night on the Boca Raton campus.

According to an alert email sent out to students and staff, the crime started in the parking lot adjacent to the recreation center. Police haven't specified if the victim is a student at FAU or what the alleged robbers were armed with.

Authorities say the victim was getting into his car when he was approached by five males, and  forced to drive to a bank to get cash and then on to Broward County, where the victim was beaten and left alone with his car.

Police say he then drove home and received medical treatment.

Our Newschannel 5 partners report this is the second armed robbery at FAU in the past week. Last weekend, a student says she was robbed by someone holding a knife at the Arts and Letters building.

Anyone with information about these crimes are asked to call FAU campus police. 561-297-3500.
