Local public school students can be suspended for making a gun-shape object out of a pastry, and that's why a group of lawmakers has proposed house bill 7029.

It's nicknamed the "pop-tart bill", making it illegal for administrators to punish kids who simulate shooting with their fingers or for making other harmless objects in the shape of a gun.

It was inspired after a Maryland boy was suspended for making a pop-tart into a gun shape.

The bill has made it past a committee in the Florida House and is headed towards debate during the upcoming legislative session next month.
