Three more people in Palm Beach County reported being infected with the mosquito-borne Chikungunya virus last week.

They were among 15 new cases and the number of Floridians infected has risen to 81.

Chikungunya is typically reported in patients who had traveled to the Caribbean region, but local health officials urge you to get rid of any standing water on your property and wear mosquito repellent after dusk.

The disease rarely leads to death, but can cause a week or more of fever, severe joint pain, and rash. There is no vaccination or treatment.
