Winning a state football title two months ago led to a big day for nine of Dwyer High School's football players.
During National Signing Day, a new record was set for the the Palm Beach Gardens school. Nine seniors were signed away to colleges, including running back Alonzo Smith, who signed with Miami of Ohio, after initially committing to FAU last week.
Other signees include Park Vista football player Emmanuel Smith, committing to Notre Dame and Logan Heiser, who plays baseball at Jupiter Community High school, signing with UCF.
National Signing Day saw Florida State University put to contract 28 players, including a local kid who is considered by the experts as the number one reciever in the nation.
Travis Rudolph of Cardinal Newman High School in West Palm Beach was one of six players from South Florida who have decided to sign with FSU.
The websites that grade colleges for their recruiting classes rank Florida State in the top five.
