Florida's Dept. of Agriculture and Consumer Services reports that the top 3 calls to the agency's hotline in July were related to cable companies, solicitations for charities and violations of the "Do Not Call" list.

Commissioner Adam Putnam says in the past month, the department initiated 273 investigations, arrested six people, recovered more than $500,000 and added more than 19,000 telephone numbers to Florida's "Do Not Call" list.

Consumers who believe they may have been the victim of fraud should contact the Consumer Protection and Information Hotline at 1-800-HELP-FLA.
