We can expect to see a vote from the Palm Beach County Commission sometime in July on whether to raise the bed tax by a penny. The county was eligible to raise the tourism tax as of March 10th. It would add a penny onto the cost of staying in local hotels. That would boost expected revenues by 7 million dollars from 34 million to 41 million. Tourism leaders plan to add it on by October 1st. It's available to counties that collect more than 600 million in taxable receipts on hotel stays. Now comes the battle over where to spend all that new found money.
