Two sequels, one of which has been raking in the bucks since Independence Day, are featured at movie theaters. Hap Erstein with PalmBeachArtsPaper.com gives us his take on one of those films, along with his thoughts on Johnny Depp's latest, which isn't taking theaters by storm.
"The Lone Ranger" - Johnny Depp stars as Tonto in this reimagining of the old western tv series. The film has already been declared a flop for Disney, coming out July 4th weekend and not making anywhere near the money it was expected to make. Still, Hap says you should ignore the naysayers and go see it.
"Pacific Rim" - It may appear like "Transformers 4", but Hap says 12 year old boys will enjoy this film about sea monsters trying to take over the planet, but being beaten back by giant robots, whose movements are controlled by humans.
"Despicable Me 2" - The sequel to the first film starring Steve Carrel as the voice of Gru, who has now given up on trying to take over the world in favor of being a dad to the three girls he adopted in the first movie. The Minions play a much larger role in this one and Hap says a "Despicable Me 3" is likely.
"Grown-Ups 2" - Adam Sandler is back with his buddies Chris Rock, Kevin James and David Spade in the sequel to the first film about childhood friends. Hap didn't review this one, but watching the trailer, it actually appears better than the first, if you enjoy Adam Sandler films. (Joel Malkin)

"This is Martin Bonner" - A story about friendship and getting a second chance at life.
