Irma Was A Crop Killer In Florida

Cold Snap Endangers California Citrus Crop

We're getting more information on how bad Irma was for Florida's crops.

One Fort Pierce citrus grower says the damage will likely grow over the next few weeks.  The owner of Arapaho Citrus says he mostly lost navel oranges and grapefruits when the trees went underwater during flooding.

Farmers say areas in Southwest Florida like LaBelle, have the most damage.  Growers there lost as much as 90 percent of their crops.

U.S. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue and Florida Ag Commissioner Adam Putnam flew over hundreds of miles of farmland to view the damage.

Perdue says grocery shoppers can expect to pay more for fruits and vegetables grown in Florida this winter.
